Nothing works without dedicated, qualified and caring people. CTL has that special "people ingredient" to make the technology and application come together under any circumstance. Most members of our staff are long-time Craig Group members, while others came from other firms to add their special expertise. Our "people mix" is rich with experience, qualifications, education and is focused on the one goal of total customer satisfaction.

Michael Cannan, B.A., President

Mr. Michael Cannan is in charge of the overall supervision and management of CTL, Mays Landing, New Jersey, and its over over sixty employees. Mr. Cannan earned his BA from Glassboro State College, New Jersey, and has over 25 years of experience in construction testing and inspection. Subdivisions under his supervision are the Sales Department, Construction Testing and Inspection, and the Environmental Division - which includes Asbestos, Lead Based Paint, Radon Testing and Inspection Services, ISRA and UST Consulting, Right To Know Services, an Asbestos Analytical Laboratory and an Environment Audit Program.

Mr. Cannan’s daily activities include the following: promoting the company to our clients, employer-employee relations, reviewing and overseeing reports generated for our clients, review and discussion with division manager, sales calls to clients, preparation of bids and contracts, preparation of concrete mixture designs, trouble-shooting as problems or questions develop whether internal or external, bill collecting, and reviewing the state of our company with company owners.

Mr. Cannan was the direct supervisor of major construction or environmental projects such as the National Airport Pavement Test Facility in Pomona, Dow Jones Expansion in South Brunswick, Secaucus Transfer Station in Secaucus, New Jersey and New York City Housing Authority Lead Based Paint Testing Project.

Robert J. Campbell, B.A., Vice President, Director of Sales

Mr. Robert J. Campbell has an Associates degree in Science from Thomas Edison College, New Jersey. Mr. Campbell has been employed by CTL for fourteen years. He is director of sales and his responsibilities include all details pertaining to contracts and client relationships.

Mr. Campbell is a former Mayor of Hamilton Township, Atlantic County, New Jersey, and has served in numerous municipal capacities including planning and zoning, municipal administration, solid waste and municipal public works projects. Mr. Campbell has served and is retired from the United States Naval Reserves after a distinguished thirty-year career.

Mr. Campbell maintains a close working relationship with numerous schools, municipal and private developers, and general contractors in the building and environmental fields. Mr. Campbell is also a member of many professional, municipal, and veteran’s associations.

Jason D. O'Grady, B.S., Vice President, Marketing

Jason D. O'Grady has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is Vice President of Marketing and manages the company's corporate image and brand. Mr. O'Grady began working at Craig Testing Laboratories in 1985 and currently manages all marketing activites and handles sales in Delaware and central and northern New Jersey.

Mr. Ed Freire, P.E., Professional Engineer

Mr. Ed Freire earned his BS in Civil Engineering from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania and his MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Wales. Ed prepares various geotechnical reports for various sized structures in coordination with our Professional Engineering Staff. Ed supervises the laboratory testing programs for soils analysis such as flexible and rigid wall permeability tests, consolidation tests, unconfined compression tests, triaxial compression tests, California Bearing Ration (CBR) tests, Atterberg Limits Test and hydrometer tests.

Ed is our senior geotechnical engineer in our Maryland and New Jersey offices. He is currently working on geotechnical projects in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Services provided include supervising subsurface exploration projects, preparation of geotechnical reports, field inspections including foundation inspections, timber pile inspections, caisson inspection and auger cast pile inspections. He also oversees that construction division’s earthwork and engineering projects.

Mr. Ian Craig, Laboratory Manager

Mr. Ian Craig is a graduate of Frostburg State University, Frostburg, Maryland. His current responsibilities include supervision of the construction testing and inspection division of the company, direct supervision of laboratory and field inspectors and technicians, daily communication with clients and staff as company liaison for testing and inspection division. Other Duties include report review, report writing, preparation of invoices and specification review.

Ian has over five years of experience. He is an FAA Certified Asphalt Inspector, a Troxler Nuclear Densometer Certified Soils Inspector, an American Concrete Institute Certified Concrete Field Inspector, an American Concrete Institute Certified Laboratory Testing Technician, an American Concrete Institute Certified Flatwork Technician, a National Concrete Masonry Association Certified Concrete Masonry Testing Technician, a New Jersey Certified Asphalt Plant Technician and a Certified Face Company Floor Flatness/Floor Levelness Inspector. Ian is also the company’s Radiation Safety Officer.

Mr. John Specht Assistant Manager, Bituminous Concrete

Mr. John Specht is the supervisor of bituminous concrete core drilling and asphalt lab technicians. Mr. Specht prepares reports for NJDOT state aid projects, schedules field inspectors daily and manages client's technical issues on a daily basis.

John has over four years experience. He is a New Jersey Certified Asphalt Plant Technician, Certified Face Company Floor Flatness/Floor Levelness Inspector and an FAA Certified Asphalt Inspector.
