Concrete and Reinforcing Steel Inspections

A large part of the CTL staff performs concrete field inspections on a regular basis. We have over 40 technicians in the field every day monitoring the placement of concrete. Placements vary according to the project; smaller projects can contain 20 to 30 cubic yards of concrete per placement while larger ones may contain over 2,000 cubic yards.

There are several standard tests associated with each concrete placement. These tests include a slump test, air content testing, temperature testing, as well as the casting of a set of test cylinders for laboratory compressive strength testing.

Prior to the placement of concrete, we normally perform a reinforcing steel inspection to insure all reinforcing steel bars have been placed according to the contract documents and approved shop drawings.

We visit most of our project sites daily and pick up the compressive strength cylinders cast by our field technicians and clients, usually receiving 200 to 300 test specimens per day. We have a full service laboratory and a 4000 cubic foot moist curing room.
