Floor Flatness / Pavement Smoothness (Rideability) Inspections

Floor Flatness Inspection

Craig Testing Laboratories (CTL) can inspect floor flatness to an accuracy of less than 0.0005" inch – that's 5/10,000ths of an inch.

CTL uses The Dipstick 2200-series instrument from Face Construction produces the most accurate and repeatable flatness and levelness data in the industry.

The Dipstick operates at up to 1,200 readings per hour allowing our inspectors to measure, analyze and report FF & FL values for poured concrete slabs quickly and accurately. CTL can perform data and elevation analyses, outputting detailed charts and graphs with customized reports.

Smoothness (Rideability) Inspections

Craig Testing Laboratories (CTL) can inspect asphalt and concrete paved roadways for rideability as required by State DOT's.

International Rolling Index (IRI) uses a profilograph to measure surface roughness using an advanced high speed system with a laser-based height sensor in combination with an inertial system that creates a large scale reference plane. The equipment is fully computerized and data can be analyzed based on your project's specifications. Using this equipment CTL can accurately measure the roughness of in-service road networks, as well as before and after milling and paving overlays.

Rolling straight edge testing uses a straight edge along the roadway surfice to measure the rideability of the constructed roadway.
